We have never had one of these cars before, but not to surprising when you realize how few were made and how few must exist today. Only 3,284 of this model were made. Estimates vary of how many are left today, we have heard of less than 100 to maybe down in to the few hundreds. Either way we know very few exist as you so seldom see one. These cars were designed by the super famous Italian automotive design house; Pinin Farina. Famed Ferrari designer along with many others. That explains why they are so outrageous to look at, along with their enclosed front and rear fenders. Power came from a flathead 6-cylinder engine of 184 cubic inches and developing a whopping 85 horsepower with a manual gearbox. These were compact cars with only a 100 inch wheelbase and 185 inch overall length. The convertible top is not of your regular garden variety style. Instead the top slides in a groove, powered electrically, and is raised and lowered by cables that track up and down on top of the bridge beam side rails above the doors. These frames are fixed with windows that roll up and down with in them. With the Convertible Landau version you got the Continental kit as well. All really neat stuff, and what makes these cars so appealing and unusual. In their day these cars were considered loaded with options. This included a radio and antenna, (wow! great reception without) custom steering wheel, turn signals, electric clock, courtesy lights and custom upholstery that included foam seat cushions!!! It seems amazing today but these were features in 1950 when the car was introduced. This one also has the wire wheel covers and they do have a really cool hood ornament. This example has been restored, and to a very nice street car standard. The undercarriage shows nicely and the body, paint and interior are all very nice. It has a very few minor imperfections but nothing derogatory that detracts from the car. It has a very appealing colour combination, finished in Maroon with Black and Grey combination cloth interior and a Black convertible top.
