1955 FORD THUNDERBIRD

 SOLD

A new era of car was born for ford with the beginning of production starting the week of September 5th 1954 of the all-new Thunderbird. Until this day these cars are one of the most recognizable of all Fords ever made. Great looking in 1955 and still great looking today. Powered by the first overhead valve V8 Ford had produced coming in at 198 horsepower out of 292 cubic inches. This car has the Ford-O-Matic (automatic) transmission.

Other equipment on this car includes power brakes, power steering, power windows and power seat. The original AM radio is mounted in the dash with and under dash mounted Pioneer AM/FM DVD player that is an XM ready version. Modifications performed to make the car an even better user friendly car is an alternator, Aeroquip style hosing, flex fan for better cooling and a more modern Holley 4 barrel carburetor. Only 16,155 Thunderbirds were produced as 1955 models. This example has a great history with it being in essence a one-family owned California car from new. It is not stock in appearance but also not difficult to make stock. Personal taste has given the car some beautiful and much understated ghosted flames on the front and tasteful pin striping on the air scoop and trunk lid. Wheels are chrome with Moon caps and radial tyres. Overall the car is in exceptional condition with lovely paint, superb interior and excellent body and panel fit with no signs of rust. The exhausts have been rerouted to exit under the car rather than through the bumper over riders. Finished in Raven Black with a semi custom interior being Black with Burgundy faux leather woven inserts and a Black hard top.
