1983 BENELLI 900 sei To be auctioned on iconic motorbike auctions iconicmotorbikeauctions.com These are very rare Italian Super-bikes. This one has been owned by my-self for over 20 years and has only 10,858 miles on it. Produced between 1983 and 1988 it is believed only 80 to 84 of these 900 sei’s made it to the United States. The only other one I have seen in a very long time is a Silver one at the Peterson Museum here in Los Angeles. Benelli was owned by DeTomaso83 Benelli 900sei from 1973. The Sei was Benelli’s flagship until they merged with Moto-Guzzi in 1988. The 906cc six-cylinder engine was the pinnacle of Benelli during this period. It produced 80 horsepower at 8,400rpm, good enough to push the 484-pound (dry) bike up to a top speed of just over 120 miles per hour. Brakes are Brembo with twin discs up front and a single to the rear. Fuel capacity is 4.4 gallons. The exhaust is a 6 into 2 and it has an intoxicating sound and the chain is a double sprocket type. A couple of years ago a service was performed including new petcocks, going through the carbs and replacement of the rubber intake boots, air cannister, front and rear brake caliper kits, rear master cylinder rebuild and a new battery. Tyres are old and although a lot of tread they will need replacement should you wish to ride it at any speed. The rear tyre is a Pirelli Phantom size 120/90 V 18 and the front is a Dunlop K591F size 100/90 V 18. This is a genuine USA specific version sold new by Total Cycle Service in Albuquerque, New Mexico December 18, 1983 to a George Havelka for a total price of $2,763.00. The MSRP was $5,406.00 at the time. It appears from my records George moved to California thereafter and brought the 900sei with him. I acquired the Benelli on August 23, 2000. I have the original bill of sale from 1983, a parts book, a Benelli sales brochure and a tool wrap for it. For me these are beautiful, outrageous, exotic, handcrafted and a stunning piece of work all in one and I’ve enjoyed that pleasure for over 20 years. Finished in Red with Black accenting and Gold Campagnolo wheels.
